The first level of my game is a tutorial which teaches you how to play, but I'll put it in writing here as well just in case.

A and D are used to move left and right respectively, and W is used to jump. The "i/I" key is used to dash upwards. Pressing both jump and "i/I" at the same time is how the player Rocket Jumps! You can still press "i/I" after the player has jumped to boost yourself upwards, but with less upwards momentum. The L and J keys are used to dash to the left and the right. The K key is used to dash downwards.

The player can only dash after having left the ground, which means jump first, and then dash. You can only dash once while in the air.

Be careful not to dash horizontally through the end marker, since that will send you off the edge and force you to restart.

Known Bugs: Dashing through the end goal doesn't register collision, so you fall off the platform and are force to restart. In some very rare cases, if you are moving too fast, you can fall through thin platforms.

Feedback:

In my project 1 submission, everyone who played my game said my level was too hard. Is this the case again, or are the levels more balanced now?

Does only dashing once hinder gameplay? Should the player be able to dash horizontally after Rocket Jumping?

Is the first level having instructions on screen helpful? I tried to place each new mechanic right next a place where you could test it.

Would being able to dash while grounded make the game more fun?

I enjoyed your game a lot because of how different it is from a traditional platformer. The ability to dash and rocket jump makes it a lot more fun and allows for many different versatile playstyles. Some people could only Rocket Jump or try to dash as often as possible to get a really good time. The levels feel really balanced and scale really well. By the third level, I was basically a god at the game and beat it with ease. Try making something harder next time for a good challenge. Dashing once does not hinder the gameplay and in fact, makes it a much better game. It requires you to think before you jump on how you want to act. Maybe you should be able to Dash after Rocket Jumping though, which could make for more fun levels. The instructions were given very nicely. I like that they were placed next to the spots where each mechanic should be used. Great work Jason, Happy Holidays!

This was a really fun game! I like the diverse movement options, and the rocket jump feels super satisfying! Your music choices were also great. If there's one thing to improve, I think the rocker jump needs to be nerfed, and the dashes buffed. As it is, there's no reason to go for any other movement options when the rocket jump is so good. The downward dash doesn't really work in the context of the platformer, as there's no incentive to speed up downward momentum and risk dying.
